Because they Cannes: Umbrellas and Red Carpet Glamour in the French Riviera

“When it Rains, It pours.” Whoever came up with this expression must have had last night’s Opening Ceremony of The Cannes Film Festival in mind. It is supposed to be the most glamourous event of the season, but instead of the Mediterranean sun everyone had hoped for, all they got was shitty rain. Glorious red carpet gowns got drenched and the long list of Hollywood stars were holding onto their umbrellas as another windy shower blew them across the red carpet.
However, no matter how shitty last night’s weather was, the dresses were still to die for! And there was Leonardo DiCaprio. If there is anyone who can make you forget the rain , it is him.

Gentleman as always, Leo was happy to lend his umbrella to his Great Gatsby co-star Elizabeth Debicki to protect her stunning designer gown. Swooooooon! (If I were her, though, I would have asked him to join me under the umbrella! What was it Rihanna once sang? “You can stand under my umbrella-ella-ella” Seems rather appropriate, don’t you agree? 😉 )

British supermodel Cara Delevinge, wearing a Burberry- dress and Chopard jewels, shows that it is indeed possible to be classy and sexy at the same time.

One of my favourite looks of the Opening Night was definitely Nicole Kidman in her stunning Dior outfit. I love how her shoes match the pretty pattern on her dress!

Freida Pinto looked absolutely breathtaking in a coral Gucci dress! (Coral is by far my favourite colour of this season!)

Julianne Moore was a vision in black and purple in her voluminous –yet elegant- Dior dress. No wonder she has such a radiant smile in this picture! (If I had the opportunity to wear such a dress, I wouldn’t be able to stop smiling too!)

I just LOVE that Chinese actress Zhang Ziyi opted for trousers and a stylish peplum strapless bustier instead of going for the floor-long dress. And how cool is her haircut?! 😉

“Shine bright like a diamond!” Naomi Harris followed Rihanna’s advice and opted for a gorgeous silver Calvin Klein dress.

When the rum is never gone: Caribbean baking

Jack Sparrow would have loved this one! Caramelized bananas, crisp puff pastry and a good dash of rum turned this dead easy tart into a true Caribbean delight. Not only was it ridiculously easy and quick to make (ANYONE can do it!), but it also transports your taste buds to sunnier and more exotic places.

It may be raining outside, but with the help of this tart, these bloody raindrops will turn into bright blue oceans. Mark my words, this afternoon I will be lying on the beach, drinking rum with Jack Sparrow and singing “Yo ho ,yo ho , a pirate’s life for me!” Because, with the right amount of imagination and a good slice of homemade deliciousness, anything is possible!

Don’t rain on my hot guy parade

Some days, I just want to stay inside, sit in my couch and watch television. That’s not being lazy, that’s being highly motivated to do nothing!
What better way to spend a gloomy day than to watch very sexy men in very addictive TV-series, right?

5) Grey’s Anatomy:

Now that Mc Steamy is dead, and Mc Dreamy is getting way too old (Sorry, Patrick!), there is only one reason why I love Grey’s anatomy (apart from all the blood and drama of course) and that is Jesse Williams! His mother is Swedish, his father African-American… Need I say more??
4) White Collar:

Seriously, how can you not love Matt Bomer? His character Neal Caffrey is charming, well-spoken , looks incredibly handsome in a suit and even better shirtless. Not to mention his perfect face and piercing gray eyes!
3) The Vampire Diaries:

Frankly, I believe the male actors were merely cast because of their looks instead of their acting talent. But who cares?! Damon and Stefan, Tyler, Klaus, Jeremy,… It’s almost impossible to pick a favorite male character, because they are ALL SEXY AS HELL and they ALL MEAN TROUBLE!
2) Gossip Girl:

Chuck’s sexy suits, Chace’s perfect hair and Dan’s puppy eyes: a Gossip Girl marathon will lift your spirits in a blink of an eye!
1)Glee

True, Glee may not have as many sexy fellas as the Vampire Diaries but let’s forget about six-packs for a minute and focus on the feel good factor, because that is what Glee is all about! From Westside Story covers to Lady Gaga mash-ups, Glee is guilt-free feel good heaven!

Fall, my favorite time of year. Leaves are painted into fifty shades of red, brown and yellow. The cool air is refreshing and the smell of roasted chestnuts, pumpkin soup  and damp wood are indulgingly nostalgic. It’s also the time of cute hats and cozy knitted sweaters, leather long-sleeved gloves and faux-fur coats.  The perfect fall outfit to go for a long walk in the woods.

When the sun is shining, what better way to spend your time than to be out in the woods? The fresh blush on your cheeks being one of the many perks.  When it rains, what better way to spend your time than to sit back and relax in front of the fireplace with a good book and a hot chocolate? Cozy is no longer an adjective, but a state of mind.

Fall reminds me that everything can change. That transition is not something to be afraid of, but something to look forward to. Fall captures unspoiled beauty and the seasonal changes will be the memories of a lifetime.
