A couple of days ago I wrote about a River Island outfit I absolutely adored. Loyal readers among you may remember I asked you all to join me in a “ cyber-telekinesis-séance kinda thing” to make sure that I would actually find the outfit in the River Island store…. (If you don’t recall making such a promise, click here )
Well, guess what, darlings? Your positive mojo didn’t work! I couldn’t find the awesome graphic leggings or the cute lime crop top! I walked through the shop yesterday like a crazy person: hyperventilating, almost bursting out into tears, mumbling to myself: “Fucking hell, it’s not here! Why is it not here?”
For a brief moment, I even felt the urge to throw myself down on the ground, shouting like a big baby.
Luckily for me –and the other customers- I was able to get myself together and move on. I asked myself: What would Audrey Hepburn do?
And then I suddenly remembered one of my favorite fashion trends of this season. I have to admit that I tried to forget about this trend because I thought it would be “too fashionable” for Belgium. I’m talking about the check board print trend, inspired by none other than Marc Jacobs. I wrote about it some time ago (if you can’t remember, click here) and although it was love at first sight, I never thought I would be able to find anything that resembled the class and elegance from the Vuitton collection.
But then I went to Zara and totally found what I was looking for! A very elegant pair of checkered trousers! Audrey Hepburn style!
I also found an amazing yellow sheer blouse with a black bow to go with it and some AWESOME neon pumps!
What do you think? I can almost feel Audrey Hepburn looking down from above in approval! 😉
Remember when I posted about the pastel fashion trend of spring 2013? Well, if one side of the colour spectrum of spring 2013 will be pretty and subtle, the other side will be in-your-face bright with lots of neons and flashy colour block outfits.
So be gone, grey clouds and snowy weather! This spring will be all about supersonic super chocking bright colours!
Here are some of my favourite summer outfits:
Colour blocking is so cool and stylish! (mixing bright yellow with pink, purple and green simply makes you feel like the next Picasso of fashion!) Once you get the hang of it, it is dead easy to wear on a day-to-day basis. However, there is a fine line between looking totally cool and sunny and looking like a wannabe Nicki Minaj, so careful not to overdo it.
Sounds like a trend you would like to try? Then you should definitely scroll down and check out the neon accessories below. Shoes, nail polish, jewellery and handbags: the brighter, the better!
Being a true fashion daredevil myself, I’ll be diving headfirst into this trend. But what about you? Will you make a fashion statement this year in a neon colour blocking outfit? Or are you still a tiny bit uneasy about the in-your-face brightness?
This spring will be all about colour! Soft and pretty pastels will turn you into a groovy Kate Middleton and flashy and bold neons will turn you into a classy Nicki Minaj. Which look you go for is entirely up to you. However, there is one colour ALL women should have in their closets this spring: emerald green.
This vibrant and stunning jewel tone was seen in the Spring/summer collection of practically every A-list designer. Coats, dresses, skirts, tops, shirts, shoes, accessories,… everything was emerald green! Do you need more convincing? Well, I can honestly tell you that this type of green matches every skin tone and suits every hair colour. Yes, even red heads like me! Dare I say it, this colour was MADE for red heads!
Besides, emerald green will not just be a key colour in your closet, it will also be of vital importance in your beauty bag. Think emerald green nail polish or an emerald liner across your bottom lash line.
Make all the other women green with envy (pun fully intended): opt for emerald!
