Perfect Outfit, Perfect Day

Perfect Outfit, Perfect Day

This is going to be a short post, dear readers. The sun is shining, the birds are singing and everyone seems to be in a state of utter delirium because of the arrival of spring.

enchanted

I am one of those people going berserk over the first beams of sun. I adore spring. I breathe spring. I am spring.

So that is why I would rather go outside and enjoy this beautiful April day instead of sitting behind my laptop writing blog posts. No offence.

But don’t worry, dear readers. I won’t leave you empty-handed. Because this post is not only a celebration of spring, it is also a celebration of the perfect spring outfit. It is feminine, funky, cool, retro, classy, elegant and quirky all rolled into one. This colourful outfit is the embodiment of a sunny perfect day, with the light blue representing the fresh breeze of air and the soft orange and coral capturing the warmth of the sun.

It is fabulous. It is spring. But first and foremost: it is YOU!

Enjoy!

What my shopping trip looked like: hysteric crying, euphoric laughing and Audrey Hepburn trousers

A couple of days ago I wrote about a River Island outfit I absolutely adored. Loyal readers among you may remember I asked you all to join me in a “ cyber-telekinesis-séance kinda thing” to make sure that I would actually find the outfit in the River Island store…. (If you don’t recall making such a promise, click here )

Well, guess what, darlings? Your positive mojo didn’t work! I couldn’t find the awesome graphic leggings or the cute lime crop top! I walked through the shop yesterday like a crazy person: hyperventilating, almost bursting out into tears, mumbling to myself: “Fucking hell, it’s not here! Why is it not here?”

For a brief moment, I even felt the urge to throw myself down on the ground, shouting like a big baby.

Luckily for me –and the other customers- I was able to get myself together and move on. I asked myself: What would Audrey Hepburn do?

And then I suddenly remembered one of my favorite fashion trends of this season. I have to admit that I tried to forget about this trend because I thought it would be “too fashionable” for Belgium. I’m talking about the check board print trend, inspired by none other than Marc Jacobs. I wrote about it some time ago (if you can’t remember, click here) and although it was love at first sight, I never thought I would be able to find anything that resembled the class and elegance from the Vuitton collection.

But then I went to Zara and totally found what I was looking for! A very elegant pair of checkered trousers! Audrey Hepburn style!

I also found an amazing yellow sheer blouse with a black bow to go with it and some AWESOME neon pumps!

What do you think? I can almost feel Audrey Hepburn looking down from above in approval! 😉

CHECKMATE !!

CHECKMATE !!

Louis Vuitton has done it again! The check board trend is back and celebrities are absolutely loving it. Vuitton’s designer, the ever-brilliant Marc Jacobs, gave the audience a runway experience extraordinaire this spring.  Beautiful models descended from escalators onto a yellow-white checkered runway. It was like getting a glimpse of what this world could actually look like; a vision of pure and peaceful perfection. The perfect balance between playful elegance and an edgy retro-vibe.

I am completely smitten with the colour palet of black and white with touches of bright yellow. It’s cheeky and girly, but yet so feminine and sexy. There are no words to describe Marc Jacobs’ brilliant mind. The things he designs aren’t clothes. Damn, it’s not even fashion! It is a vision. On Life, on love, on liberty.

What I’m trying to say is: CHECK out these clothes and run to the stores to start your very own eye-popping game of CHECKERS!

Very Bold and Very Beautiful: Spring 2013 make-up trends

Published March 5, 2013 by The Feminist

Birds are chirping, buds are blossoming and spring romance is in the air. I feel overly excited and I constantly have this urge to start whistling. Which can only mean one thing: it’s time to buy new spring make-up!

Stop recycling your last year’s boring make up, because – as the weather heats up- it’s time for a bolder and braver you! Turn yourself into the superwoman of beauty tricks and make adventurous make up choices! This spring’s make up is all about standing out and wowing everyone around you!

Sounds fun, right? Here are the spring 2013 make up trends that will make you feel happy and self-confident.

1. Think pink!
Pink was by far the biggest make-up trend on the spring/summer catwalks. From fuchsia to bubblegum pink: anything goes, really! Donna Karan even opted for pink eye shadow and lashes! But my personal favourite were the fuchsia pink lips at Giles. Vibrant, young and oh so pretty!

2. Silver Lining’s Playbook:
Metallic eyes were a big hit on the runway this season. Chanel went for plenty of eyeliner and shimmering silver eye shadow. Opt for nude lips to balance out the in-your-face brightness of the look.

3. Welcome to the sixties!
Marc Jacobs and Moschino went a couple of decades back in time and gave their models full brows, nude lips, lots of eyeliner and ultra-long lashes. Yes, it’s time to embrace your inner Twiggy!

4. Under the sea
I’m guessing designers like Stella McCartney and Michael Kors were dreaming of a Mediterranean holiday when they chose the colour of their make-up. McCartney opted for an elegant thin streak of green eyeliner, while Kors chose a very futuristic turquoise line above the eyelid. Very bold and very Beautiful!

It’s time to get to the gym, ladies! The bare midriff is back in style!

Published February 1, 2013 by The Feminist

For those fashionistas who thought they could just sit back, relax and eat cake until spring arrived and the weather was good enough to bring out the summer wardrobe, think again: Bare midriffs are a huge trend this spring, so you better think twice before eating that second slice of sticky caramel- banana cake!

Not only designers like Marc Jacobs used glimpses of midriff in their spring collections, shops like River Island, Forever 21 and Topshop are selling crop tops as well. And let’s not forget all those stylish celebrities who are already incorporating bare midriffs in their day-to-day fashion.

This is my favourite crop top from Topshop:

Pair your crop top/blouse/jumper with a high-waisted skirt or trousers for a sophisticated look and NEVER opt for a bare bellybutton outfit! Unless you want to look like Britney Spears in her “Hit me baby one more time” period. (Which you don’t.)

I have to admit that, although I totally love this look, I haven’t yet figured out how I am actually going to wear this on a day-to-day basis. Unfortunately, God hasn’t blessed me with a sun-kissed skin like Naya Rivera, and I definitely don’t have Rihanna’s tremendous confidence. Not to mention that this look isn’t really suitable for attending classes at University. Or for a day at the office…

And Rihanna in a very cool combo of orange and purple.

On the other hand, I would really really really like to wear it! 😉

What do you think about this look, fellow fashionistas? Do you dare to bare?

The man I would like to kiss: It’s Mr Darren Criss

The man I would like to kiss: It's Mr Darren Criss

Here is my message to all those men who don’t give a crap about fashion: Clothes make the man. Naked people have little or no influence on society. (Mark Twain was such a wise guy!)

So p-leeeaaase, burn all those hooded sweaters, worn-out sneakers, and boring t-shirts and add a touch of glam to your wardrobe!

Just look at Glee-star  Darren Criss for inspiration. There is simply nothing he cannot pull off: bow ties, suits, bold colours, funky sunglasses, …

And besides, the entire female population LOVES him! So if you all go shopping now, we may come to love YOU as well!
