Mirror mirror on the wall, who’s the best baker of them all?

Published November 11, 2012 by The Feminist

Modesty is not my strongest suit. Not when it comes to baking at least. I created this masterpiece – a plum and almond tart – this morning and if I may be so frank: holy crap, it was delicious!

I don’t concern myself with a dainty presentation. (I simply don’t have the patience for it) I prefer big slices of cake with big flavours. Home baking as it should be!

All those in favour of heartwarming homemade pieces of heaven, say AYE!

    • Haha, here is the recipe: http://www.een.be/programmas/dagelijkse-kost/recepten/pruimen-amandeltaart

I’ll give you a quick translation of the ingredients:
-150gr of dried plums (soaked in 1dl Calvados) or an other type of liquor you like 🙂
-1 sheet of puff pastry (approx. 230gr)
      -200gr of caster sugar
      -200gr of ground almond
      -140gr of selfraising flour
      -120gr of butter
      -2 eggs
      -1dl of milk
      – a pinch of salt
      – 120gr of nuts (almonds, walnuts, pecans,hazelnut, pecans…)

I’ll briefly summarize the method 🙂
Put your puff pastry in a pie case with a loose bottom (don’t forget to grease it ^^)
Mix the sugar and butter in a bowl, add the eggs one at a time. Pour in the milk. Add the dry ingrediënts (flour and almond, salt) Get your plums out of the liquor and put them in a food precessor.Add the plum paste to the pie mixture. Put a couple of tablespoons in the remaining alcohol (to make some sort of boozy syrup) and add the nuts . Toss the nuts around to give them a nice syrupy coating.
Put the pie filling in the pie case. Smooth the surface with a palet knife. And finally scatter over the syrupy nuts.
Put in a preheated oven for 45minutes at 160 degrees celcius.

I hope you enjoy it!! 😀
